Transinsular Perspective of Right Internal Capsule. The three main divisions of the fan-shaped internal capsule (ie, anterior limb, genu, and posterior limb), as well as the globus pallidus, are seen in sagittal perspective. Several prominent lenticulostriate arteries extend superiorly to perfuse the internal capsule and lenticular nucleus. Note the fusion of the proximal part of the optic radiation (the so-called retrolenticular limb of the internal capsule) to the posterior limb of the internal capsule. (Image courtesy of PA Rubino.)
