Left mandibular nerve. The buccal nerve originates from the mandibular nerve and courses between the upper and lower head of lateral pterygoid muscle. The anterior branch of deep temporal nerve is give off from the buccal nerve. The lateral pterygoid nerve originates from the anterior division of mandibular nerve. However, the medial pterygoid nerve is given off from the main trunk of V3. The posterior branch and masseteric nerve go laterally above the upper head of lateral pteryoid muscle.
