Right posterior superior view of the posterior fossa and internal auditory canal. The roof of the internal auditory canal has been drilled and the cerebellum retracted. In this perspective, the cerebellopontine angle is exposed. The facial nerve and nervus intermedius and vestibular nerves (superior and inferior branches) converge on and enter the internal auditory canal in company with the labyrinthine artery, a branch of the anterior inferior cerebellar artery. The glossopharyngeal and vagus nerves can be seen converging on the opening of the jugular foramen inferior to the internal auditory meatus. (Image courtesy of AL Rhoton, Jr.)
