Cavernous sinus compartments. Mid-sagittal cut, medial to lateral view. The different subsegments of the cavernous ICA are: short ascending, horizontal, and anterior genu. The posterior genu of the cavernous ICA is between short ascending and horizontal segments, and the meningo-hypophyseal trunk branches typically arise from here.
