Supratentorial interhemispheric view of the quadrigeminal plate. The falx is retracted medially and the tentorium inferiorly to reveal the superior colliculus of the quadrigeminal plate, looking rostrally toward the pineal gland. The basal vein of Rosenthal has also been retracted. The internal cerebral vein, entering this image from the third ventricle, joins the basal vein and the precentral cerebellar vein to drain into the midline great cerebral vein of Galen. Laterally, calcarine branches of the posterior cerebral artery course along the medial occipital lobe. (Image courtesy of AL Rhoton, Jr.)
