Posterior Perspective of the Dissected Pineal Region. Pineal gland and quadrigeminal plate, also known as tectal plate or tectum, are demonstrated. Tectum is composed of paired superior and inferior colliculi. Tentorial dura is demonstrated on the right side image, with trochlear nerve traversing along incisura. Anatomy of the medial temporal lobe is also demonstrated bilaterally, highlighting important anatomy and optional access to this area using a carefully planned supracerebellar approach.
