Perspective view of the right optic radiations and insula. For orientation, the cortex of the temporal lobe has been removed to reveal the optic radiations coursing posteriorly toward the primary visual cortex. The inferior hemiretina fibers are contained within Meyer’s loop, which loops around the temporal horn of the lateral ventricle before coursing posteriorly. The inferior limiting sulcus of the insula separates the insula from the superior temporal gyrus of the temporal lobe. (Image courtesy of AL Rhoton, Jr.)
