Parasagittal view of brain and lateral head. The central area of this image shows the middle cranial fossa, the trigeminal nerve and the distribution of its three divisions: ophthalmic nerve to the orbit, the maxillary nerve to the pterygopalatine fossa, and the mandibular nerve to the infratemporal fossa. The lateral wall of the maxilla has been drilled to expose the maxillary sinus. Portions of the brain revealed include the frontal lobe, the precuneus part of the parietal lobe involved with episodic memory and visuospatial processing, and posterior to this, the cuneus part of the occipital lobe involved with visual processing. The cingulate gyrus overlies the corpus callosum. (Image courtesy of AL Rhoton, Jr.)
