The paraclinoidal region. A right anterior clinoidectomy has been completed to expose the paraclinoidal ICA, located between the distal and proximal dural rigs. The supraclinoidal ICA is above the distal dural ring. The interclinoidal ligament, oculomotor membrane, and proximal dural ring form a continuous dural layer that acts as the roof of the cavernous sinus. The paraclinoidal ICA is located at the roof of the cavernous sinus, while the cavernous ICA is located within the cavernous sinus itself. (Image courtesy of JC Fernandez-Miranda)
