Magnified view of pterygoid recess. The oculomotor nerve runs from the interpeduncular fossa to the superior orbital fissure (SOF) and arises between the posterior cerebral artery superiorly and the superior cerebellar artery inferiorly. The abducens nerve has an intracisternal segment before entering the cavernous sinus. V2 runs through the foramen rotundum, and V3 runs through the foramen ovale. The optic nerve can be identified in the upper part of the image. (Image courtesy of JC Fernandez-Miranda)
