Lateral view, showing the relationships between the optic radiation, the tip of the temporal horn, the amygdala, the hippocampal head, and the uncal recess. The uncal recess is located between the amygdala and the hippocampal head. The anterior tip of the temporal horn is located slightly forward of the uncal recess and behind the lateral part of the posterior surface of the amygdala. The radiation courses at the level of the roof of the anterior part of the temporal horn and turns downward to drape over the lateral surface of the middle and posterior parts of the temporal horn.
