Lateral View of Stepwise Dissection of the Right Hemisphere. The putamen has been removed to expose the globus pallidus, the internal capsule, and the sagittal stratum, which includes fibers from the occipitofrontal fascicle, the anterior commissure, the posterior thalamic peduncles, and the optic radiation. The uncinate fasciculus, located deep to the limen insula, interconnects the frontal and temporal lobes. The fibers of the anterior commissure pass anterior to the globus pallidus. The occipitofrontal fasciculus passes just above and is sometimes difficult to separate from the uncinate fasciculus. (Image courtesy of E de Oliveira)
