Frontosphenoidal junction. Anterior view. The cribiform plate enters the anterior cranial fossa through the the ethmoidal notch of the frontal bone. The fovea ethmoidalis of the frontal bone covers the ethmoid cells and separates them from the anterior cranial fossa. Laterally, the orbital plates of the frontal bones form the lateral aspect of the anterior cranial fossa and articulate with the greater wing of the sphenoid bone.
