Entry of the abducens nerve into the cavernous sinus. The abducens nerve enters the posterior compartment of the cavernous sinus, just behind the carotid artery. The meningohypophyseal trunk arises from the carotid artery and gives meningeal branches and the inferior hypophyseal artery, which runs toward the sellar floor.
