Dorsal view of pontomesencephalon and neurovasculature. The dorsal surface of the midbrain or mesencephalon is in view with reflected cerebrum and cerebellum. The trochlear nerve emerges from the dorsal surface of the midbrain while the oculomotor nerve emerges from its anterior surface. The trigeminal nerve emerges from the anterolateral surface of the pons. On its anterior surface is the basilar artery, which gives rise to superior cerebellar arteries supplying superior cerebellar tissue and terminal posterior cerebral arteries, which supply the occipital and posteromedial temporal lobes.
