Partial dissection of the temporal lobe to expose the anterior part of the temporal horn. For orientation, anterior is to the left and the tentorium is at the top left of the image. The dorsal part of the temporal lobe has been sectioned in a coronal plane to reveal the anterior tip of the temporal horn of the lateral ventricle. The hippocampus and parahippocampal gyrus lie on the inferior and medial aspect of the temporal horn. (Image courtesy of AL Rhoton, Jr.)
